Re: Locked computer/no welcome screen

thanks for the info, i added a new account, and rebooted my computer.

when it restarted, it came up with the black screen/text box and had me log
into my regular account. i logged out of it and successfully logged into my
new account, but the welcome screen never came up, i'm really confused.

when i made the new account, i went into the 'user controlpasswords2' under
'run' and made the new account full admin, would that change anything? thanks
for the info once again.

The Administrator, Guest, and ASP.net accounts are all system accounts. The
ASP.net account does not appear on the welcome screen and the Administrator
account will disappear as soon as another account with administrator
privileges is created.
Try creating an account with your preferred username and give it admin
privileges, reboot the pc,and see if you get the welcome screen.

PS: The guest account can never unlock a pc locked by an admin.

hey guys,
i've looked through the posts, and I cannot find an answer to my problem,
so
here it goes...

I'm trying to get my welcome screen back when i swith users. the 'use
welcome screen' box is checked in the user accounts, i've checked the
registry a million times as the internet says, and it has all the right
information. i have 3 accounts on this computer, an administrator(mine), a
guest, and aspnet.net, so i have plenty of accounts(one way to solve this,
i've found online, is to have more than one account, doesn't work for me).
i've tried tweakUI, no help, i've tried everything.

oh yea, it is windows xp home edition SP2, with all updates installed.

whenever i switch users, it goes to a screen with my background on it (or
a
black screen depending on if i hit the 'user' button on my keyboard) and a
taskbox comes up saying that the computer is locked, and i need to unlock
it.
i put my password in, and it logs on. but the wierd thing is, is that i
type
'guest' into the username box, hit enter, and it says that the computer is
locked, and only an administrator can unlock it. there is no password on
the
guest account by the way.

i have tried everything i can find online, and nothing seems to work. can
someone PLEASE tell me what i need to do in order to get my welcome screen
back? thanks a million!
