Been there, seen that. It really is the nature of the beast. When asked, I
always recommend that folks check out LCD displays firsthand.
Another thought: You might try checking for updated display drivers. Those
may clear up the display a bit.
Also check out Mike Hall's recommendation to double check on the suggested
"optimal" resolution for that screen. The ratio is a tad different on LCDs
making them prone to jagged edges when the optimal resolution is not used.
