David,
It does appear as if there is an invalid or missing path. The cacls command
does work if I run it from the c:\windows\system32 path.
After I run "SET", I cannot figure out how to cut and paste. I can "Select
All", but I cannot cut or copy. If, after "Select All", I hit the right
mouse button again, the highlighting goes away.
Can you tell me how to Cut and Paste from the Command Prompt? Or, is there
a particular piece of information you are looking for from the SET results?
To summarize my problem, last week, after I first installed Photoshop CS2,
every thing seemed to work fine, with the exception of the HELP menu. After
loading CS2, you get the top menu line...File Edit Image .... Window
Help. Last week, after I first loaded CS2, when selecting the Help menu, I
immediately got an error message. I believe it was Error 1316...network
error. Remember...this was last week. The situation got worse as I
uninstalled COMPLETELY the program, until Monday afternoon, when I was able
to load everything again from a new administrator user, and by completely
uninstalling Zone Alarm and a couple of other programs. I did not uninstall
Norton, but I shut it off in MSCONFIG.
Now, CS2 works with most applications, except the HELP menu. Things are
better...when now selecting HELP, I actually get the Adobe Help Center
window. I get a list of Help Topics on the left of the screen. As an
example, one topic is "Getting Started." If I click on this, I get the next
menu list, including "Installation and Registration." If I click on
"Installation and Registration," I get the next menu list, including "To
Install." If I click on this last item, I immediately get an error dialog
box. It says "The operation could not be completed." No error number is
listed. This happens for all but 1 of the help topics.
I will continue trying to see if I can figure out hot to cut and paste from
the command prompt.
Thanks for your help so far,
Richard
