Did you install Pro on the same partition as Home?
If so you should start over with a Clean Installation:

If Home had problems connecting to the internet, you are not now connecting
because Pro is better, you simply fixed the problem an expensive way.
As far as internet connectivity is concerned, there is no difference between
Home and Pro.
Windows XP Home and Pro are identical in performance and stability.
