First thing I would do is boot to Safe Mode, boot the system, start tapping
F8 and continue to do so until the menu appears. When it does, select Safe
Mode, then try scanning his account for viruses, first making sure your
antivirus software is up to date. I'd also check for any malware, download,
install and run Ad Aware.
If everything is clear, I'd try treating this as a corrupt user profile as
outlined in the following Knowledge Base Articles:
