Can anybody help (I have a Mesh Matrix XP 2000 256mb PC2100 DDR Memory
266mhz) on 5 Sept 2004 1 had 20.1Gb of free space on my computer (Hard drive
is Maxtor 60gb) I attemted to install Service Pack 2 as supplied with
Microsoft WindowsXP November edition. I had 2 failures during loading but
thought it may have been the screen saver. After installing I tried to run
the Encyclopedia which the daily Express is promoting. It failed as it
stated the sound was turned off. It worked alright before I installed SP2.
So I restored to the previous point and checking the amount of free space
left it was 19.5GB. I thought I would try the downloaded versionwhich
installed OK and I checked the free space, there was a further large decease
in the free space and still the Encyclopedia would not work with SP2. I then
restored again I am now down to 14.5GB so I decided to go back even further
on restore I have now ended up with just 11.4GB of free space left. This
means I have lost 8.7GB of free space just by
installing and removing SP2.
What is happening as nothing like this has happened before is it SP2 or
what.
To me it seems as if everytime I use restore I am not regaining the space on
the drive but doubling the space taken by restore. Between 5 Sept and today
12 Sept I have lost 8.7 GB with no new programs being installed.
Any help would be gratefully received as I use my computer a lot with my
Grandson that is why I want to use the encyclopedia.

I look forward to hearing from some one

Thank you
