Notepad does not store any information in it's own file. It is simply a text
editor that creates text files and then saves these text files to the hard
drive.
Go to start/Search and search for notepad.exe you should find several
copies on the hard drive, depending on how XP was installed and if you have
upgraded with a service pack. Double click each copy, in the search results
window, of this file until you find one that opens notepad. Move this copy
to the C:\Windows\System32 folder and let it over write the copy taht is
there.
You can also open files created in Notepad using Wordpad or any other text
editor.
