The compatibility wizard is not perfect, it's simply another tool to try to
help in instances such as yours.
I don't know if Qfixapp is still available, there may be reasons why it
isn't such as compatibility or causing other unintended problems.
Virtual PC will work with XP but a less expensive solution would be to dual
boot with an operating system with which you already know this application
will work and on which it can be installed. Since XP is already installed,
you will need third party software such as PowerQuest's Partition Magic (Now
owned by Symantec) or a similar such utility that will allow you to not only
create an additional partition for the other operating system but also has
its own boot manager for purposes such as these.
Such software will be considerably less expensive than Virtual PC and far
less a drain on system resources. However, when wishing to use the
application installed in the other OS, you will need to reboot into that
operating system. It will nonetheless let you do what you desire.
