Ordinarily, this is a problem that must be corrected with the monitor
controls. However, as you have described the issue, it's possible this is a
power problem since the monitor on the docking station returns to normal
when you remove it.
This, in and of itself is odd since one would assume the docking station is
plugged into a power source and when the laptop is removed, it must rely on
its batter power. This would seem to indicate there's a power problem
effecting everything on the connection, the other monitor, the docking
station and the laptop when connected to it.
Have you tried plugging things into a different outlet? Also, if you have
everything on a power strip, try plugging as much as you can directly into a
wall socket, well at least the docking station and the other monitor and
test to see if the problem goes away.
