Go to the following site, scroll to line 53, click "Hide or Show Inactive
Icons-Notification Area" in the right column.

It's usually advisable to make a System Restore point manually before
running any fix. Start\All Programs\Accessories\System Tools\System
Restore. Be sure your data is backed up as well.
