You might try Linux for the second computer and use it for surfing the web, email, etc. I use it for everything except those programs that do not have free Linux work alikes. I know this is mainly a windows forum but the reality is that both have their strong points and can work together.

Always been that way. Heck a LAN can have thousands of PC's. If you want free operating system licenses then Windows is not the way to go.
Yes, I understand. Linux, right? But all my software is for Windows,
so I guess that's where I'll have to stay. If Linux had an easy GUI,
like Windows, I really would consider switching. Thanks again, Bob.

You must have a separate license for each PC running Windows. This means you will need to buy another one. Yes, Windows Update works on more than one computer.
Thanks, Bob! That hardly seems fair to me at all. Just one copy per
computer? It makes no sense if I'm trying to build a LAN. Thanks
again for your help.

Hi all,
I am wondering, if I get a second computer can I install my same copy
of Windows 2000 on it to create a LAN? Or do I have to have a
separate copy for each computer? Also, will Windows Update work on
both computers?
Thank you very much for any advice.
