1. Toshiba Tecra 9100
2. Port replicator, external CD rom drive
3. Window 2000 Professional SP4
4. Current with critical updates.
5. Windows update
6. VPN
7. Uninstalled KB835732 so don't know.
8. After installing KB835732, was able to boot but
received errors saying that files were bad and needed to
insert Windows CD to install correct versions. Below are
some of the error messages from the event viewer. As I
mentioned before, I uninstalled the critical update and
things are back to normal.
The protected system file c:\winnt\system32\msacm32.dll
could not be verified as valid because Windows File
Protection is terminating. Use the SFC utility to verify
the integrity of the file at a later time.
There are 54 messages like this with different file names.
The protected system file icmp.dll was not restored to its
original, valid version because the Windows File
Protection restoration process was cancelled by user
interaction, user name is xxxxxxx. The file version of
the bad file is 5.0.2134.1.
