Remote TS disconnect issues...

We have a windows 2000 Terminal Server that we use to host both internal and
external connections.

We are using a mix of XP and Win98 machines running the RDP 5.2 client to
connect to the TS.

This morning while in a sales meeting, I discovered that several of the
salepeople who log on remotely from home have been experiencing disconnects.
Basically, their screen will freeze and then the client reports
they have been disconnected. They have to wait a few minutes before logging
in again, but when they get logged back in, no problem, they are right back
where they left off. However, they then reported that recently it seems that
every 5-10 minutes they are being kicked off.

We have absolutely no problems internally with disconnects so I suppose it
is safe to say that it must be a data communication issue and really nothing
to do with the server as the TS doesn't know (and doesn't care) who is
remote and who is not...

They also report that their own internet connection remains active through
the whole thing, so it is safe to say it is not the local connection to
their provider causing the problem.

Has anyone else had this problem? I wonder if it has something to do with
the RDP client not interpreting the data from the server correctly... Is
there a better client or an upgraded client maybe? I am at a loss to figure
out why this is happening. (and no events are being recorded in the event
log either)

As well, users report a lag every so often where the screen will freeze and
then a couple seconds later, the line they had been typing away on fills
in... This I believe is a know issue and does not happen when logged on
locally - only remotely...

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks,

Brad
