Thanks again for following up. I will do what you suggest.

I am almost 100% sure the disk is fine, but anywy, I will
run the diagnost tools included as part of the Maxtor Disk
with Ultra ATA/100 drive and I am able to access in DOS
mode, one of the partitions.

PS The partitions were handled with partition magic
software. Do you thin it would have something to do with
the problem?
