Backup and Restore share points?

Hi,

As far as I know, there's no way to restore share points to a new
server? You can restore data from a backup tape, but not the shares. If
you have 400 home directories, that's a lot of typing!

I'm thinking of writing a script that can backup and restore share
points for Windows servers, using an XML database, however I don't want
to "reinvent the wheel". Are there any free tools out there that can
already do this?
