RIS prestaging problem

When trying to prestage Windows XP clients in a Windows 2003 Server
domain I've run into a problem I don't understand.
I've written a script that reads a list of computers from a text file
and adds them to specific OU's in AD. The script also sets the Remote
Install attributes of 'Computer's Unique ID' (netbootGUID) and 'Remote
Installation server'.
'Computer's Unique ID' is set to the mac-adress prepended by twenty
zeroes, for example {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000A5E1EBC44}. This format
would seem to be the correct one as it is used in the Microsoft article
"How to prestage an RIS client computer by using ADSI"
However, when I run RIS on these machines it creates new computer
objects with a scrambled version of the mac-address followed by twenty
zeroes as the 'Computer's Unique ID', for example
{1E5E0A00-44BC-0000-0000-000000000000}
If I manually change the netbootGUID on the computer object to the
second format before running RIS, the prestaging works.
Before I start reworking my script... Does anyone know if this is
indeed an error or has Microsoft changed how the netbootGUID is
calculated in Windows Server 2003?
regards,
