Thanks for the input Dan,
I had already made a fixed size page file of the Windows reccomended size
(376 Mb) on separate partition. I try increasing it.
I have heard rumours in the past that a very larger size cab cause problems
but not sure whether this was in connection with Win 2k or not - I also
seem to recall that it affected only those with 512 Mb Ram.
As for the security software - I think you may well be right. There does
appear to be some fairly sustained and intensive disk activity even when
desktop and system tray is fully loaded. I'll have a looksee in task manager
as you suggested
