Good Point, however how do I install the manufacturer's controller
driver when I can't get the computer to read or write or format the
hard drive. I have done a Ghost restore of several backup that were
supposed to be clean and good before adding new equipment. All of
these backup require me to run chkdsk and then lock the computer up. I
have changed the hard drive, low level formatted, install windows
98SE, then formatted and ghosted restored W2K Pro. Again I get a
fragmented hard drive. This was not on the computer I am having
problems with. The Ghost restore was on the damaged computer.

One of my son's has assisted me this evening in trying some of his
ideas, again with the same error coming up after getting to the point
of formatting the disk. I am going to change some equipment around and
attempt Win98SE again and see if I can get a clean install. If so,
then I guess I will stick with Win998SE until I need a faster
computer.

Purchased the Asus K8V motherboard, AMD processor, memory, and some
250GB SATA hard drives. I think I will return them tomorrow as I just
don't need that kind of computing power for any reason right now.
