Has anybody set up a Windows 2000 network in which they have *not* had to
set these registry tweaks to get any sort of performance out of the file
server when used with Windows XP Professional clients?

The problems are described in :
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;321098
and
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;321169

It doesn't concern me, since the fixes work, but it seems somewhat strange
that all of the recent Windows 2000 SP4 servers I've set up have required
these manual fixes. Without them it's like writing to a floppy disk!

As an aside, I'd love to see a comparison of the performance of Windows 2000
Server and Samba in which these tweaks were not performed! Would be about as
fair as some of the other performance comparisons I've seen.
