Re: Registry Backup, errors (1016, 1019, 1450) saving HKLM_Software key

Thanks for the idea. I ran docmemory simmtester a couple weeks ago
and it all checked out fine.

I just modified the PagedPoolSize to FFFFFFFF per http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304101,
rebooted, and the ERUNT tool created the backup during boot (I chose
that option during installation).

I ran VCOM Fix-It 7 Professional Checkpoint creator and it worked for
the first time since 2/2.

Next I will run EMC Retrospect to make another incremental backup, and
I expect it to backup the registry.

I keep thinking how awful it must have been trying to get problems
solved before the web was invented. Although I have been in the
industry since the 1980s, I got my first home PC in 1997.

Thanks to everyone!

Thanks for the tips. I created an ERD and told it to save the
registry.
I did not see any errors, but I don't recall how to tell if the
registry was backed up.

The only reason I was using REGEDT32 was to identify the key that
other tools are having trouble with. They all have trouble with the
8th one - the SOFTWARE key.

ERUNT had trouble as well. The main dialog / progress box showed that
it was

"Backing up registry to C:\WINNT\ERDNT\2-16-2008"
Current file:
software
1 of 7 files saved

*** At that point, another dialog box popped up with a warning (and
Red X) ***

Error saving file
C:\WINNT\ERDNT\2-16-2008\software !

Continue with the next file?

[ RegSaveKey: 1450 - Insufficient system resources exist
to complete the requested service ]

============================================================

Next, I shall try optimizing the registry, although I have done that
with other tools.
And I will research the other KB articles that I have found, and will
report back when solved.

Best Regards,
Wayne
