Re: Resizing

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Hello Mark

Sorry to have brought some confusion to the thread.

When you replied that this forum dealt with XP, I moved from the resizing of
the Windows to another more serious matter that has nothing to do with the
windows.

It is that I would like to check a number of entries in the registry and
would appreciate some help.

All that could be dne has been done and I belive the trojan is gone, but
there are I think changes to the registry that I would like to tackle.

Thank you very much

I have XP SP2, but as there does not seem to be a forum for XP

NT4, W2K, W2K3, XP are all covered here to date.
Just always specify the OS in question when posting. For XP,
"home" vs. "Pro" may also be relevant.

You will need to be more specific about "window". An explorer
(shell) window, application window, some type of dialog window,

is there a registry entry for this?

Can't say yet.
BTW do you have REGMON a free Sysinternals tool available
there?

Hi Mark, thanks for your reply.

I meant the IE window.

If IE-specific I cannot help. Don't use it.

I'm a little nervous because I had a virus (Prorat.BB) a few
days ago and things are not quite what they used to be.

Restore from backup known-good partition image? (hopefully)
Especially since Prorat.BB can "backdoor" the system.

I'm glad you deal with XP because then I can add another doubt:

I don't. This group supports those Windows versions, but
personally I run W2K.

I read in the web
http://www.security-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=3752

that the registry keys in quaetion should all be "\"%1\" %*"
and I found one that is not, and which is also covered in the MS
link below

This might or might not be virus damage, but I cannot see how that
alone would affect the ability to save window state.

Could you help, please?

PS - No, I don't have regmon.

Many thanks for your kind help.

I believe you need a better group or fora for all this. Starting
with the compromise of the system apparently by a back-door Trojan
which may have done almost anything and may have stolen data as
well. It may be in the end you must re-install or restore to
regain any trust in the system.
