I have recently changed from a domain to a workgroup using
Win XP and Win 2000. Right click the my computer icon,
Properties, you should get the General information with
many "tabbed" pages behind. Go to Network Identification
tab. There are 2 buttons on this page. Network ID and
Properties. Click on the Network ID and a Wizard comes up
and you need to check some items about the computer. I
have used the "my company uses a network without a domain"
complete the wizard. Then, Click on the Properties and
you can create or change a Computer name and add as a
member of a Domain or Workgroup name here. Click on the
More button, and remove any references to any old domain
here.
