I can ping the target. I thought about the name
resolution so I tried it by the IP address and that behaved exactly the same
way. It's really mystifying.
if you get system error 53, it could be the name resolution
issue or firewall blocking the access. can you ping the server b by
IP?
I
have an odd problem with my VPN RAS. I have two RAS servers in my office,
both running on 2000 AS. I have a XP clinet at home that I ue to connect
to the office and have a batch set up to map network drives for this
connection.
If I use RAS Server A I am able to map network drives
on any machine in the office, including Server A, which is the
objective.
However, if I use RAS Server B I am able to map drives on
any machine EXCEPT Server B. Attempting to map a drive on B I get a
Error 53 Path not found error.
I have examined the RAS setup for
these connections on the client and they are identical. Both have
NetBIOS over TCPIP configured, use the same DNS configuration, etc. The
ONLY difference in the two profiles is the target address.
I have
examined the RAS Server setup on the two servers and they appear to be
identical also.
Both RAS Server A and B are happend to be AD
controllers in the domain so it can't be be because one is a controller
ant the other not.
Why does this work for one server but not the
other?
