Problem solved. The P.P.o.E. software, a.k.a. virtual
adapter was causing this problem to occur.

Had the end user uninstall P.P.o.E. software, move to a
Linksys router to handle the P.P.o.E. login (with PPTP
passthrough enabled) and everything turned out ok.
