You need to configure the DNS suffixes in the TCP/IP properties.
Go to "Network Connections" folder
Right click on the Ras Dialup connection
Select Properties
Go to Networking tab
Select TCP/IP Protocol
Click Properties
Click Advanced...
Goto DNS tab
Select "Append these DNS suffixes"
Add "domainname.com" here
Now you should be able to reach the server with the servername only.
