This will not be causing wrong DNS lookups. If you look at the routing
table rather than using IPCONFIG, you will see the true situation. It is
explained in KB 254231 . Basically, the client will have a default route to
the "received" IP address,
which means everything goes across the VPN link.
A more likely cause is that the VPN connection does not have the correct
DNS suffix set up.
