Here is the solution for your problem.
You can only have one default route
have the default route in the external interface
pointing to internet router /firewall
have static routes for the internal network. ( no default
gateway)
Have a dedicated server for Remote access.
Configure routing and remote access. Make the machine
part of active directory domain.
create the appropriate policy to allow users.
Allow remote dialin permissions for the groups that
you use in policy.
The users in the office can have their PCs connected
and when they get home they can dial in to the vpn
and they would terminal service into their XP boxes.
Easy for security as you would allow only one IP/TCP
for each user
