I have setup a Cisco PIX 515 to be a NAS for an MS IAS
server. The IAS has registered itself with the domain AD
and a member of the RAS and IAS server group. We have a
single W2K domain with AD. Our programmer had created a
VB apps using SQL 2000 as the backend. I have created
two type of VPN traffic, PPTP and L2TP. Using PPTP, we
do not have a problem connecting to the network
resources. However, using a Cisco VPN client, we can not
logon to the SQL via the VB apps. The only difference
between the two traffic is the aunthication protocol.
PPTP uses MSCHAP while the Cisco VPN client uses PAP.
IAS does not support MSCHAP for VPN client. When I VPN
in using the Cisco client and check the log on the IAS
server, the account being granted is identical to the
PPTP account, domain\username but the remote system
system using the Cisco VPN can not connect to the SQL
server. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
