For the server end yes, that is the best approach. Took the cab file put it
on a new server with A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT NAME and imported the cab file
and recreated all the printer queues.

However for the client side, since the server name is different, the clients
printer setup to print to \\server1\printqueue no longer works because
server1 is no longer available. My problem has been finding away to put
something in the login script so that it will recreate the client printer
mappings so when the user logs on it takes the printer mapping pointing to
\\server1\printqueue and recreates it as \\server2\printqueue. I finally
found a script and implemented it and it worked great.

There is a utility i used called "printimg.exe" that will cab up all your
printers and you can imnport them to the new print server. Did you use that?

Well the point of my post was that I want to rename the server I moved the
new print queues too. Obviously if I named the new server the same as the old
one then it wouldnt be a problem at all, but I wanted it to be a new name,
hence the problem. But don;t worry, I found a page on MS's website with
several scirpts that remapped the clients printer connections at login.

Once server 2 is up and running take server 1 off line and rename server
2 to match server 1. When the system comes back up all users should
have access. If any are mapped to an IP address that will have to match
what server 1 was also.

We need to move all our print queues off the existing print server to a new
server with a different name than the old print server. However all the
client pc's are mapped to the queues using the old print server name
\\printserver1\printer. How do we move to a new server and not impact the
clients at all. \\printerserver2\printer.
