Tried these steps, including printing directly to printer.

Does changing the spool settings help at all? Print directly to Printer?

Thanks Danny but that does not appear to be the problem as moving the
printer to a test server and setting up the printer results in normal
fast printing. I put it back and it was VERY slow again while the other
printers are working fine. It is a network printer. The funny thing is I
tried setting up the HP Install Printer Wizard on a workstation in that
building and printing directly to the printer, after changing its IP
address, and it still printed slow.

This makes no sense whatsoever, does it ??

No change. The fact that the printer quickly prints a test page
initiated at the printer leads me back to the server but only the one
printer has this slowness issue.

Is it connected to the network or the server?

If on connected directly to the network, check the NIC on the printer.

Print server is Server2003, SP1. An HP1200 inkjet, HP4000 laserjet,
and an HP 4050 laserjet are all run through this print server.

The HP4050 printing has been getting slower and slower and now it
takes several minutes to print out a test page from the server. The
led indicates rreceiving data, then ready, then receiving data and
just takes forever. A test page initiated on the printer itself comes
out immediately.

Test pages from the server to the other two printers are executed
quickly.

I have performed the troushooting I found on the support.microsoft web
site, including removing the printer and reinstalling the driver and
then removing the c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3 folder
and reinstalling all printers.

No change. The fact that the printer quickly prints a test page
initiated at the printer leads me back to the server but only the one
printer has this slowness issue.

Any ideas?
