Hi,
Three times in the past month, my print server has stopped processing jobs.
Restarting the service doesn't resolve the issue; the server needs to be
rebooted. I usually see events indicating that some documents were printed,
but they don't actually print. I also see several of these:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Print
Event Category: None
Event ID: 6161
Date: 1/10/2006
Time: 8:16:39 AM
User: DOMAIN\User1
Computer: MYPRINTSERVER
Description:
The document whatever.xls owned by User1 failed to print on printer
somelaserjet. Data type: NT EMF 1.008. Size of the spool file in bytes:
333804. Number of bytes printed: 0. Total number of pages in the document:
1. Number of pages printed: 0. Client machine: \\192.168.0.2. Win32 error
code returned by the print processor: 2250.
MSKB says the error code indicates a loss of connectivity with the printer,
but that's not the case. I can ping/telnet to the print servers. I also
see some of these:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Print
Event Category: None
Event ID: 45
Date: 1/10/2006
Time: 8:16:35 AM
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Computer: MYPRINTSERVER
Description:
Document failed to print due to GDI/Driver error in rendering.
Any ideas? I don't want to use "cleanspl" as this server has about 80 print
queues. One thing I did try was setting all the LaserJet 4000's (30% of our
printers) to the same version of the driver. Prior to me doing so, half had
PCL5, the other had PCL6.
Thanks,
Pat
