We have a 3000+ win2k pro desktop environment (IBm eserver x205).
Most of them connected to a IBM infoprint 1222 laser printer via the
network.
Recently, when some of the networks were upgraded to include Cisco 3600
switches, the
print speed dropped drastically.
Initially the win2k pro boxes were spooling in 4k chunks, after all the
SUS patches are
applied, this increased to 64kb chunks.
Printing pdf's and large docs takes a long time to spool.
We've tried everything to increase this speed, including forcing the
NIC on the win2k box and printer to operate at 100mbps/full duplex,
removing the spool folder from symantec antivirus scanner etc etc.
Having scanned all possible forums, havent seen a solution to the 64kb
chunk issue.
Re: classic and 9.2 boots slow now ... I also have some old Mac running OS 8.6 and thought it ... I went back in OS 9.2 and thought I turned off all the network sharing... box from the computer running OS 10.3 and 9.2 but still slow to boot... booted fast and worked great 3with the laser printer....
