Delegation of printers in W2K - AD

I want to delegate the control of printers to desktop support. I see
no way to do this in AD. When I look at permissions assigned to the
printers on the print server (member server) I see an entry for full
control to MACHINENAME/PRINT OPERATORS. ...there is no such local
group on that machine when viewed in "my computer / manage". I can't
belive that the plan is to change permissions on every printer...we
have 200+ printers on each print server. I suppose I could make each
printserver a DC, and then I'd have BUILTIN/PRINT OPERATORS to work
with, but that sounds pretty crazy as a design.

What am I missing here?
