Pagefile usage and lots of physical RAM

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Hi All,

I was running with 1GB of RAM, but have just added 2GB, making a total
of 3GB on my Windows2000 PC.

I did this mainly because I do a bit of photo editing, and thought it
would make things faster.

I've been playing around, and I notice that Windows is still using
loads of pagefile, even though there is still 50% physical RAM still
available.

Is there any way to make Windows use real RAM instead of the pagefile?

Also, I have set the pagefile size manually to 1GB, and the
pagefile.sys is that size, but windows is reporting 1.6GB of pagefile
usage. How can this be?

Your thoughts are much appreciated.
