Well, I was able to get ghost working quicker than expected so I backed-up
and ran the hotfix.

No problems.

The only thing is I don't see any real difference. You get the "Unplug or
Eject Hardware" icon in your system tray and the drive shows up there, but
shutdowning down seems a lot like it did before applying the fix. The
drive's spin down doesn't sound or act any different. And if you were
copying a bunch of files over or in the middle of a backup, the drive will
still shut itself off and the copy or backup will fail. Maybe the fix does
protect the drives consistency in some cases, but what those cases are and
how to test them is beyond me.

Anyway, like a good Buddhist the fix does no harm.
