Losing connection to Vista 64 machine

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hi,

I have a LAN with a couple of Vista machines (one 32 bit the other 64 bit),
and a W2K SP4 machine. Every now and then (like maybe once a day at some
point). the W2K machine suddenly for no apparent reason loses contact with
the Vista 64 machine. It can still see it, but I cannot access it from the
W2K machine. I can go the other way OK, and the 32-bit machine can access
either of the other 2 machines, and vice versa. The only way I've found so
far is to reboot the V64 machine, which is a real pain.

I tried booting up the V64 machine in safe mode with networking as advices
byt Microsoft support, but that didn't resolve the lack of connection (though
a full reboot did), so they advised me to try this newsgroup to see if anyone
here can
help.

Any ideas at all as to what I should try?

Regards

Ali Smith
