The only time that ROBOCOPY will delete the source files is if you specifically use the MIRROR command - otherwise the originals are always left intact.
I use it all the time, once you learn a small handful of switches and commands it is very easy to use.

I did find the earlier version of Robocopy and there was even a GUI program to use with this command line utility.
However, I have had no luck with it. It requires setting switches
or all sorts to make it work and this is a bit beyond my knowledge level. If I get it wrong it may delete the source files and that will not be good.
Any ideas for a simple windows-based type program that will do the
trick... allow me to transfer a batch of files, pause them if I have to and pick up where I left off?
