Re: Setting Up a Network on W2000

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

The little ethernet plug is now glowing with excitement. It actually allowed me connect to the internet. I'm going to have to talk with ASUS. It appears that when you click install all drivers with their CD, it has something else in mind.

I did call them awhile ago at 5:55 their time. They close at 6, and took my phone #. Four devices remain uninstalled, but they seem to be harmless. Although one is USB, but my USB thumb drive seems to ignore that. I'll call *them* tomorrow anyway. They are a jolly little group.

Cheers ...

This may give you a hint.

Does this give you a clue?

Strange, I thought it was you who was after some hints?

If you don't get the usual options to install TCP/IP, File and
Print Sharing and the Client for Microsoft Networks then
your machine does not recognise its network adapter. Have
a look in the Device Manager.

It's been four years since I've done that (Subject). It's not immediately obvious how to start. I just finished installing W2K, and maybe missed a chance to do it then. I poked around in the Control Panels, and it looks like everything is modem oriented. I'm missing something.

Networking a PC to itself is much the same as clapping
with one hand. I recommend you start by telling us what
exactly you're trying to do.
