Ghost in the System

I renamed one computer from system-x to system-y. The system was
reimaged with all old information ebing wiped. I did not, however,
remove system-x from AD computers. When I ping system-x it comes back
with an ip of 10.1.6.64. When I ping system-y it comes back with the
same IP under its new name.

When I run a tracert on that IP I get the correct name coming up. What
service controls this? I have since removed the computer name from AD,
but only did that twenty minutes ago.
