Make sure this server ( DNS Servers . . . 192.168.0.10) has the SRV records
the clients looking for.

The DNS Settings are automatic which they get from the router and its
provided by the ISP.
Thanks
That is your problem right there. AD clients MUST point to the DNS
server set up for the AD domain ONLY.
Do not put your ISP's DNS server *anywhere* on an AD client. Putting
your ISP's DNS server as primary will result in long log in times,
group policy will not apply correctly, problems adding computers to the
domain. Putting your ISP's DNS server as alternate on an AD client will
result in network drives being inaccessible after a time.
Basic AD DNS setup is install DNS on a server. Point this server to
itself in the properties of TCP/IP. Point all AD clients to the DNS
server set up for the AD domain only. For Internet access set up your
AD DNS server to forward requests and list your ISP's DNS server as the
forwarder. This is the only place on an AD domain where your ISP's DNS
servers should be listed.
I suspect someone is putting your ISP's DNS server on the AD clients
for internet resolution, but that is not the way.

I have seen those symptoms when the client computer has a bad entry in
DNS for the alternate DNS server.
What do your clients point to for the alternate DNS server?

Hi! people,
I am having a problem in my network since last week. Here is the
story.....
I have a network with Windows 2000 Server and Windows XP clients.
Everything was workin fine till last week. Then we had a problem
with our firewall router and we replaced it with new one. Same time
we also changed the network Switch as well as did some windows
updates on the server. Now we hav a software applications which
access the loan files from the server and this was working fine
before but since all these changes and updates, if the user has a
loan file open and does not do anything for few minutes, the
software looses the connection with the server and then user mostly
looses the data and work. This is so frustrating. I have tried to
bypass the switch and no help. I have talked with the tech support
at the Netgear (my firewall router) and according to them because we
don'e loose the internet connection and only loose the LAN
connection, it's not the router.
Can anybody help?
Thanks
Raj
