We are trying to backup a SQL database to a remote host and during the
backups it will fail and we will receive an event logged noting that
the specified network name is no longer available. The event ID is
17055 and the description is:
18210 :
BackupDiskFile::RequestDurableMedia: failure on backup device '\
\bwraid\sql backups\BackOffice\FullBackups
\BWBOPRDSQL_ZoneBackOfficeFull800.BAK'. Operating system error 64(The
specified network name is no longer available.).
Both servers are windows 2000 and they are connected to the same VLAN
on the same switch. There are no network errors on the port of the
target server.
Any ideas? We can't seem to find any other logged errors letting us
know what the cause is.
Don't know why it fails, but try using \\bwraid's-ip-address instead of
\\bwraid.
