Re: Help browsing between two domains over VPN

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Network browsing will REQUIRE that the WINS servers replicate between each
other, no way around it. DNS won't help with browsing the network. Have
you checked the event viewers on each of the WINS servers to see why they
aren't replicating?

Hello everybody :)

I got a little problem browsing 2 Active Directory domains hosted on 2
Windows 2000 server boxes on different locations.

Here are the details :

- I got a VPN connection between 2 sites. On this point, no problem, I
ping any computer on the other side.

- I got a DNS forwarding between the 2 DNS servers managed by Active
Directory. Name resolution works on both sites and I can ping any
machine by name.domain.com.

- I got a two-way trust between the servers. I know it works because I
can access network shares without having to enter a valid user account
in the domain of any computer of the foreign domain I wish to access.

- I got a WINS partnership between the 2 servers but I not sure it's
working since even when I click "Replicate Now" I have no entries in the
system log and I can only see one domain while browsing the network
neighborhood...

My problem is I wish to able to browse both domains via the network
browser.

Any ideas what's wrong?

Thanks in advance.
