Re: same nic different partition

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

What you say is obviously incorrect. If the two installations
were the same then they would work the same way, by
definition.

You now need to perform the usual network trouble
shooting tasks. Here are a few of them:
- Check the Event Viewer for error reports.
- Check the Device Manager to make sure that the NIC
is enabled and that it works properly.
- Set the NIC speed to half-duplex 10 MBits/s while testing.
- Give the NIC a fixed IP address.
- Ping some device connected to your network whose IP
address you know.

The results of the above tests will determine your next steps.

suggestion?

Your question is then:

"I have a PC with two versions of Win2000. With one
of them, networking works as expected. With the other,
it does not. How can I get the other to work?"

And the answer: Configure the other in exactly the same
way as the first.

Yes. One HD has different partitions and each partition has w2k.

Hello!

I have w2k sp4 and same wireless card on partition 1 and
partition2.
The
wireless device and driver no problem and show the network icon.
Partition1
can go to internet.
For partition 2:
I either assign private ip or auto get ip,it just can not connect
to
internet. It can not ping router. I use ipconfig/release,
ipconfig/renew.
I
saw the ip is 169.254.x.x. I know this is not the correct ip. How
do I
correct it? Thanks any suggestion.

What do [disk?] partitions have to do with network adapters?
Are you talking about booting into different OSs, each on its
own disk partition?
