Hi there,
I just installed a new W2003 server with same name/IP as an old
server to
replace it to an NT4 domain.
I am getting following error on the server event viewer and even when
I try
to do a :
net view /domain:abc from the command prompt
Event ID 8021
The browser service was unable to retrieve a list of servers from the
browser master \\Server1on the network
\Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{E480806F-1E8F-48C1-8528-D58D5C442397}.
Browser master: \\Server1
Network: \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{E480806F-1E8F-48C1-8528-D58D5C442397}
This event may be caused by a temporary loss of network connectivity.
If this message appears again, verify that the server is still
connected to the network. The return code is in the Data text box.

Net view output: system error 52 has occurred. You were not connected
because a duplicate name existst on the network. Go to system in
control panel to change the computer name and try again.

Should I remove its computer name and all references from Wins
records?
I cannot change the server name.
Thanks a lot, Calin
