What happens if you open a Word document from this drive using Windows
Explorer, and open/save/etc?
It's that same - delay approx. ~1, on all windows 98

Is this happening to other users? Have you checked your network settings
(DNS server is only the SBS box, etc), tried a different Ethernet cable,
different NIC?

Note: you really really need to get Win9x computers off your network. 98
is no longer supported, but beyond that, it is a home OS and has no
security, cannot join a domain, cannot participate in your group policy,
etc - it is a bad thing.
