Frankly, I'm stumped. It sounds like everything is configured correctly so
unless your ISP is blocking ports and preventing the two servers from seeing
each other ...

Please let me know what you think. Is there anything I should look into.
Also, please note that Subnet and Default Gateways are same for both these
Public IPs. No router and no firewall as everyone is able to connect (RD,
FTP, etc)
Thanks a lot!

KLN.

You shouldn't need to reset the PCs - are you sure you don't have
firewall software on one or both PCs?

It doesn't seem to work yet. As per your suggession I added IPs to
"hosts" file located under "Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\" (Windows
2003 EE) folder in each system. But no go yet. Can you please revisit
my problem and see if there is anything that I should be doing?
As I mentioned to you, my IPs are provided by same ISP and they are
same and just a number difference. Subnet is same. Please let me know
if you would like further details.
Thanks for your help!

KLN.

Probably because the IP addresses the public PCs are being given are
in different address ranges and aren't visible to each other. This is
not unusual with most ISPs and fixed IP addresses unless they are
assigned in a very narrow range (say, as an example, 100.100.100.101
and 100.100.100.102). The easiest fix will probably be to add each PC
to the HOSTS file so that the addresses can be resolved.
For example, if PC1 has IP address 100.100.100.101 you'd want to add:
PC1 100.100.100.101
to the HOSTS file on PC2, and if PC2 has IP address 100.100.100.102
you'd add:
PC2 100.100.100.102
to the HOSTS file on PC1.

Thank you! Yes. They are being used as they are. I have weired
problem. Could you help me out? I posted this problem already but
none could answer it. Maybe you can help me.
I have 2 public IPs like this. But I don't know why each of thsese
system are unable to ping or connect (RD, FTP, Web,etc) each other.
Everyone else is able to connect to these two IPs( Systems). But but
not these two each other.
I don't know why. Can you give me some insight into this? Please let
me know if you would like any further details.

KLN.

Do you know what your public IP addresses are? If so, check the PC
to see if it's using one of them. If it is, then you are not behind
the router; if it is not, then you are behind the router.

Can you check the physical network connection from your PC? Trace
the wire back and see where it goes.

Hi experts,
Can you tell me how can I check whether I am behind the Router or
not? Is there anyway to run a check? I am given multiple Public
Static IPs from ISP. I am not sure I am behind the firewall or
not. Please let me know.
Thanks for the help.
Regards,
KLN.
