Re: Remote desktop

Ok first, I am not referring specifically to the Remote Desktop
function in Windows Server.

I am new to this kind of software. I have seen WinXP's Remote
Assistance software and I would like the same kind of functionality,
except to remotely access my own PC and not help other people with
theirs.

I heard pcAnywhere does this but is it really like the Remote
Assistance program where you can actually see the GUI and stuff on the
other computer?

Also, will I need separate client/server software or can I just run the
server and then access via web? And if my server has a dynamic IP then
I guess I have to sign up for no-ip.com service or something similar?

Thanks for any help.

There are a number of programs you can try.

VNC-variants (most of them free), in my opinion UltraVNC is the best, with file transfer, copy-past between remote and local machine, optional encryption of the traffic.
Danware NetOp
CarbonCopy
pcAnywhere (tried this long time ago, yes I think it does what you want)
