problems installing DNS cacher

Hi, hope you can help me with this...
I'm trying to install AnalogX FastCache program; a DNS cache that requires TCP/IP DNS to be set to 127.0.0.1 .
Entering that in the Network/LAN/TCPIP-Settings to set DNS lookup gets me...
"IPs starting with 127 are not valid because they are reserved for loopback addresses. Please specify some other valid value between 1 and 223"
(I trust the company, they make some pretty nifty tools so I'm pretty sure it's my fault the thing isn't working.)
Any ideas ?
(My ISP's DNS servers sucketh royally, so I'm trying to keep valid hits around for awhile instead of relying on them for repeat business all the time)
TIA
Rick .
