HELP !!! Offline start menu disappears

Can anyone help me with Offline folders.

My 2000 laptops have start menu folder redirected to a server with automatic
caching set up for offline - However when I pull out the network cable the
start menu empties.

This DOES NOT happen on windows XP - The icons remain in the start menu.

Anyone know why this happens ???

Any help appreciated

Thanks
Bourny
