Home networking, cannot connect laptop

I have a wireless router with a desktop wired (running on win98se), a desktop
wireless (xp) and I use a pcmcia wireless card for my personal computer, a
compaq laptop (win2000). Everything was working fine until last Saturday and
then suddenly, I couldn't go online from my laptop. The other two still work.
I was using an AT&T G card and I've called customer service multiple times
after reinstalling their software and going through every setting imaginable
for the router and wireless card. I have a backup card, a Linksys B, and
couldn't get that to work either. After stringing me along for days, they
finally decided that my card is defective and they're sending me a
replacement BUT...I really don't think that's the problem because I've spent
hours trying to get my laptop to connect to the network or go online wired
and it wont do that either!
In the command prompt, I can successfully ping the router, ping the DNS
servers, ping yahoo with its IP, but can't get on the network or go online.
Neither browser will work; I use Mozilla Firefox but have IE installed just
in case I need it. I've gotten to the point now (after trying two routers and
3 wireless cards, and trying it wired) that this is a windows problem but I
can't figure out where to go from here. Does anyone have any suggestions for
me?
